History

Prior to establishing a funeral parlor, Charles Dupont (first generation) used two locations - one on Olde Main Street (near Olde Main and Monroe Street), and another on present-day Main Street just west of the intersection of Webster St. and Main Street.

In 1921, Charles built Dupont-Malcore Funeral Home at 701 N. Willow Street.   This building is still owned by the Malcore family and has been moved behind the existing funeral home and is located at 1365 University Avenue.

After graduating from mortuary school, Bill Malcore became part of the corporation of De Bauche and Dupont. Later they voted out Oliver De Bauche and the funeral home became known as Dupont-Malcore Furniture and Funeral Service.  During these early years Bill went back to working full time at the paper mill while trying to establish the funeral home on the Northeast side.

In 1947 Bill built what is the present-day Malcore Funeral Home. The new funeral home offered larger chapels, an oval lobby, coffee room, and living quarters upstairs.

After nearly 40 years of funeral service, Bill died On April 26, 1954.

Gordon was the third generation to own and operate Malcore Funeral Home.  During his tenure Gordon built the parking lot by tearing down existing rental units (a decision that his father Bill was not if favor of).  At that time all funeral home parking was on the street.  Gordon could see that visitations were getting larger and something needed to be done.  Gordon passed away on June 23, 1997, and is sadly missed.     Gordon Malcore, Malcore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Green Bay

Dan Malcore, Malcore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Green Bay

In the mid-1980s Dan Malcore (fourth generation) bought Malcore Funeral Home and the buildings from his father Gordon.  He immediately doubled the size of the funeral home parking lot at our east side funeral home and has taken steps to open a second location at 1530 West Mason Street. Our new location, on the west side provides the same compassionate services that our east side offers plus some new additional features such as a lunch room, an extended lobby, a larger parking lot, and larger chapels.

Today Dan has over 35 years experience in funeral service and is President of Malcore Funeral Home.  Together with his sons - Ben and Joe, Malcore Funeral Home is the only family funeral home in Green Bay that has two generations working full-time to serve families.
