Abby Lorraine Bourgeois, 44, passed away surrounded by her loving family at her Mom's home in De Pere, WI on November 29, 2024. Born July 12, 1980 in Marinette, WI to Chris (nee Gruszynski) Spah and Rick Olive, she grew up first in Porterfield near the family farm and then Marinette. Abby attended Marinette schools before moving to De Pere where she graduated from Syble Hopp School in 2001. She attended the Aspiro Day Program for many years, and more recently attended the Clarity Care Day Program. Abby most enjoyed holidays, birthdays and other celebrations (particularly those that included Dairy Queen ice cream cake), was passionate about chocolate milk, was an avid music fan and loved MTV, loved watching and rewatching the movies Ghostbusters and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and enjoyed riding her bike, fishing in Mike’s boat, and going fast(er) on both. Abby was very social and left a lasting impression on everyone she met, making many friends throughout her school and day program experiences. She cared deeply about those who impacted her life, and would frequently inquire as to the whereabouts of siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, pets and old acquaintances.
Abby is survived by her parents Chris and Mike Spah of De Pere, Richard (Sheri) Olive of Porterfield, Robert Bourgeois of Marinette; siblings Annie (Jesse) Treml, Jessica Bourgeois, Bob (Sarah) Bourgeois, Collin (Lisa) Bourgeois; nephew Ezra Treml and nieces Elsie Treml and Olivia Bourgeois; Godmother Pat (Tom) Thuemler, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and her beloved stuffed animals Cinnamon, Lavender, Caramel, Braveheart, Love-a-lot, and Sweetheart Bear. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Francis and Elaine Olive of Porterfield, and Stan and Lorraine Gruszynski of Porterfield.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring or summer, with details announced at a later date.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the teachers, staff and caregivers who loved, nurtured and respected both Abby's fierce independence and desire to fully participate in her community; and also to Unity Hospice (including on-call staff but particularly Jolene, Tanya, Amy, and Steve) for their incredible care and support of both Abby and her family.
We miss you Doobie.
