Charles Goodavish, 87, Green Bay, passed peacefully on Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2022, after a brief battle with lung cancer and was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments. Charles was born on January 1, 1935, in Sheboygan, the son of Frank and Anna (Doering) Goodavish. Charles was enlisted in the Air Force from 1955-1960. On March 19, 1960, he married Patricia Wood in Wichita, KS. The couple moved to Fond du Lac in 1962 and then to Green Bay in 1979. Charles worked for Archway, Morning Glory, and retired from his career in sales with MetLife in 1994.
Charles was very sociable and managed to strike up conversations with complete strangers and make friends wherever he went in true Midwestern fashion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed hosting the Sunday morning Pancake and Porky’s breakfasts with the Kiwanis Club, cross country road trips with his family, cheering on the Packers, and spending time with his beloved dogs over the years.
Charles is survived by his seven children: Charles J Goodavish of Austin, TX, Eugene (Amy) Goodavish of Kewaunee, Douglas Goodavish of Wisconsin, Kenneth Goodavish of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Jeffery Goodavish of Green Bay, Christopher (Leslie) Goodavish of Madison, and Melissa (Scott) Eberl of Oregon, WI. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife Patricia; one infant son, Brian Goodavish; two sisters, Rosemary (Roger) Horst and Sylvia (Bernhardt) Thede; two brothers, James ( Dorothy) Goodavish and Frank (Helen) Goodavish.
Family and friends can gather for the visitation at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason Street on Wednesdsy, August 31, 2022, at 2 PM until the time of the funeral service, which will begin at 4 PM at the funeral home.
