Darlene A. McDermid, 75, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local hospital on October 12, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 18, 1941, in Laona, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Keifert) Van Ark. Darlene is a graduate of SS. Peter & Paul School and Green Bay East. On January 21, 1966, she married Gary McDermid Sr., and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1992. Darlene worked at Younkers Distribution Center for many years. She was an avid Packers fan, and cherished traveling, especially up north with her family. Darlene also enjoyed cribbage, craft shows, cooking, and canning.
Darlene is survived by five children, Donna (Tim) Meves, Gary Jr. (Amy) McDermid, Diane (Randy) Phillips, Gene McDermid, Gerald (Angelita) McDermid, all of Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Kristin), Ryan, Brent, Brianna, Matthew (Duffie), Michael (Denise), Kyle, and Marco; two great grandchildren, Ayden and Henry; one brother, Robert Van Ark; one sister, Patricia Van Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, John Van Ark; one sister-in-law, Jean Van Ark.
Visitation at St. Bernard Parish, 2040 Hillside Ln., Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is assisting the family, 432-5579. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
