Darlene I. Moens, 69, Green Bay, passed away Sat. afternoon, May 7, 2016, as the result of Lewy Body Disease while at a local care facility. Born Oct. 3, 1946, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Manfred and Irene (VanDeWalle) Manders. Darlene is a graduate of Wrightstown High Class, Class of ’65 and later graduated from the College of Cosmetology. She married Richard Moens on Sept. 25, 1971, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Darlene was a talented, caring person who held various jobs serving as a hair dresser and later working with the elderly and took great pride in her home. She was a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Darlene will be remembered for her enjoyment of sewing and quilting for family members, playing cards, Bingo, time with the camping group and her time camping with her grandchildren. The couple enjoyed their many bus trips with their best friends, DeDe and Dan Szurgot. Darlene will be greatly missed by her dear husband of 44 years, her devoted children and cherished grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Richard; two children, Carolyn (Jim) DeBaker, Poland, WI and Kevin (Chandra) Moens, New Franken; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Casey, Jared, Alexus, Jacob, Sarah, and Ella; brothers and sisters, Norbert (Janice) Manders, Elaine (Jim) Lutz, Wilbert (Betty) Manders, Rosemary (Bernard) Kane, Pat (Gene) Beatty, Helen (Mark) Matzke, Edward (Debbie) Manders, Reuben (Sue) Manders, Ken Manders, Robert (Connie) Manders, Thomas (Delores) Manders, Lorraine (Jeff) Trochta, and Bernard (Shari) Manders; Richard’s siblings, Ron (Sharon) Moens, Rita (Francis) Falish, Helen (Leland) Denil, and Larry (Jean) Moens; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Wilfred and Mary Moens; and one brother, Donald Manders.
Visitation at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 West Mason St., Thurs., May 12th, from 4-8pm. Parish wake service 7pm Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation to continue Friday, May 13th, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 139 S. Madison St. from 9am until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 11am Friday at the church with the Rev. Joseph E. Dorner officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
