David J. Gilson, 68, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 6, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 1, 1951, in Green Bay, son of the late Rupert and Angeline (Suedzinski) Gilson. Dave graduated from Green Bay Preble High School in 1969, and married Judy Schoen August 7, 1971 in Green Bay at First Lutheran Church. Dave retired from Kos Management in 2014. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church for over 25 years, where he helped with grounds upkeep.
Dave loved making bonfires, and he enjoyed fishing. He was also very handy and could fix anything. He enjoyed going to car shows, and took 3rd place at the Town of Eaton Car Show.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Judy; 5 children: Don Gilson, Greenville; Amy Gilson, Green Bay; Ben Gilson, Green Bay; Angela (Joseph) Tabordon, Green Bay; and David (Alison) Gilson, Pensacola, FL; 8 grandchildren: Blaine, Gabrielle, Zachary, Faith, Jasmine, Jadyn, Jocelyn, and Kaylub; 3 great-grandchildren: Serenity, Aries, and Sophia; one sister, Mary (Tom) Zollar, Green Bay; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dona Schoen, Tom Schoen, Richard (Anita) Schoen, Sue Hebel, Carol (Dan) Segersin, Kathy (Greg) Steckman, Karen (Jim) Sentowski, and John Harrill; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald; his sister, Carol; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Merwin and Joyce (Schoenauer) Schoen; brothers-in-law, Jerry Schoen and Roy Hebel; sister-in-law, Sally Schoen; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gail (Lee) Stryzewski.
Family and friends may visit Messiah Lutheran Church, 3186 Eaton Road, Green Bay, on Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 9 a.m. until the hour of Memorial service at 11 a.m., with Reverend Stephen Sauer officiating. Inurnment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Malcore Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may directed to Unity Hospice or Bay Area Life Center.
