Douglas G. Van Dreel

Doug was called for early retirement to go way up north, to be with his mom & Johnny among other family & friends on 8/25/24. Doug was born on 1/5/62 or maybe even 1/6/62. That was a debate for many years. He was very blessed with so many life lessons & truly wonderful experiences with his kids, grandkids, family & friends. He married Nancy on 11/14/1992--the only year he missed deer hunting. He was blessed to have many lifelong friends, especially Johnny & Kathy that meant the world to him. 

Doug enjoyed going up north, motorcycling, hunting, fishing, boating, getting his weekly number /numbers, doing any project, “add it to the list”--he never was sitting idle. He also enjoyed driving semi truck for nearly his whole life. He served in the Military with deployments to Iraq. 

Doug was survived by his wife Nancy, his children Shane (Miranda), Bridget (Jordan), Blake, grandchildren Luke & Maia, his dad, John, his siblings, Jeff, Bruce, Todd, George (Lynda), John, Michelle, mother-in-law, Marlene, sisters-in-law, Linda (Greg), Karen, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends, including his bff Kathy. He was preceded in death by his mom, Patricia, father-in-law, Leo, his bff Johnny, and close friend Aaron.

Family and friends may visit Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 3009 Bay Settlement Road. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with Abbot Gary Neville officiating, followed by full military honors. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.  Donations accepted In lieu of flowers to help with medical expenses.
