Elizabeth “Betty” Fischer, 99, Green Bay, died peacefully, Thursday, May 12, 2016, at a local nursing home. Born in rural Antigo, December 20, 1916, she is the daughter of the late Julius and Sarah (Maney) Winnega. Betty married Edward Fischer, May 4, 1937, at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo and he preceded her in death, December 30, 1960. She worked as a seamstress at Green Bay Clothing Company from 1952-1970 and later, from 1970-1979 at Gold Bond Ice Cream. Betty was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Green Bay. She enjoyed card playing and crocheting.
Betty is survived by two children, Elaine (Michael) Loy of Green Bay and David (Miki) Fischer of Freedom; daughter-in-law, Shirley Fischer of De Pere; 8 grandchildren, Diane (George) Van Der Linden, Christine Fischer, and Edward (Molly) Fischer, Michelle (special friend, Pat) Loy, Christopher (Stela) Loy, Erik (Amy) Loy, Brian Fischer, and Lori Volk; 14 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Franklin “Huntz” Thomas of Shawano; special cousin, Jane Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Don; daughter, Diane; sisters, Idella Winnega, Lela (Duane) Dennis, Gen (Keith) Johnson, Helen Thomas, and Jean (Eugene) Hoermann; brother, Gerald (Gloria) Winnega.
Visitation at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Green Bay, Saturday, May 21st, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is caring for the family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
