James “Jim” L. Kaufman, 77, Green Bay, passed away Wed. morning, March 15, 2017, at a local hospital. Born Feb. 2, 1940, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Matzke) Kaufman. Jim is a graduate of East High School and attended both UW-Stout and Oshkosh. He married the former Mary Miles on June 10, 1967, at Saints Peter and Paul Parish. Jim taught in the automotive department of NWTC for 33 plus years and was instrumental in starting NWTC car show that continues to today. Due to Jim’s enthusiasm for sports cars, he also began Jim’s Foreign Car which he continued running with his family until his passing. Jim will be remembered for his enjoyment of sailing including his involvement with the Windjammer Sailing Club, traveling and watching the grandkids play sports.
Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian and Tony (Jessica) Kaufman; grandchildren, Angela and Christian; sister, Phyllis Vandelaarshot; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernice Boucher; brother, Edward (Joyce) Kaufman.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St. Sunday, from 4-8pm. Parish wake service 7pm Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation to continue Monday at the funeral home from 9am until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass at 11am Monday at Saints Peter and Paul Church with Rev. Robert E. Rhyner officiating.
