John Raleigh Illgen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 28, 1958.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melodie Joan Illgen. They were married on August 27th, 1989 at his parent’s family farm “Illgen Acres,” where he had grown up.
He is also survived by a his loving mother, Patricia Illgen, and his two sons, Retired SFC Jeffrey (Krissy) Marks and Henry Illgen. Proud “Papa” to his grandchildren, Gabriel Marasch and Alex, Benjamin and Sophia Marks. John is also survived by a brother, William “Bill” (Philomena “Phil”) Illgen; a sister, Theresa (Gary) Forkert; further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and brethren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raleigh Henry Illgen.
John graduated high school in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin in 1976, had a BA in Economics from UW Milwaukee, where he also served in the ROTC, and served as an artillery Captain in the U. S. Army. He farmed for four years in Seymour, Wisconsin before moving to Green Bay. There he worked hard at several jobs in agricultural industries before becoming certified as an Insurance Agent. He retired recently from insurance and had begun his own options trading company.
From 2013 to the present time, John and Melodie had a ministry for the body of Messiah Yahshua; Green Bay Sabbath Fellowship – an Assembly of YHWH in N. E. Wisconsin. During this time, John was made a deacon by YAIY and later ordained an Elder by YAIM.
His hobbies were history, family genealogy, boating and fishing, hunting and building historical muzzleloader rifles.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 12 noon until the time of the funeral. Funeral service 1pm at the funeral home.
