Kerry A. Spees

November 15, 1950 — November 13, 2024

Kerry Spees, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in De Pere, WI on November 13, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. He was born in Stevens Point, WI on November 15, 1950, to the late Robert and Barbara (Ray) Spees.

Kerry grew up in Port Edwards, WI. While growing up, Kerry enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He never missed a chance to brag about his 67-68 Port Edwards Blackhawks team, the small town school that made a noise in the high school playoffs. He passed this love of basketball down to his kids and grandkids, he enjoyed watching his grandson play any chance he got. He never missed a Sunday cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers either.

He loved spending time with his family at the family cottage in Plainfeld, WI, as well as golfing and singing karaoke any chance that he could get. He was a gifted guitar player and spent many nights sitting around playing the guitar and singing while his friends and family enjoyed. He never missed a chance to go up to Lake Owen for the annual “guys fishing trip”; where a lot more golf and cards and a lot less fishing happened.

He started working for Wisconsin Public Service in 1980 and retired in 2016 after 36 years. While working for WPS he also spent his time as a sportswriter for the Green Bay News Chronicle covering High School sports. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and camping with his wife and his friends for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Jody. His children; Justin Spees, Amanda (David) Spees, Samantha Spees. His stepchildren; Jesse (Queenie) Berger and Alex (Jazmin) Berger. His grandchildren; Skielynn (Samuel) Spees and Keegan Spees. He is further survived by his siblings; Greg (Debi) Spees, Jon Spees, Sarah (Dean) Pieczynski and special cousin (who was more like a brother) Richard (Jeanne) Weymouth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Barbara Spees; and Samantha’s significant other, Jeremy Nooyen.

The family would like to thank Unity Hospice for their care. There will be a celebration of life at a later time.
