Louis J. Monfils

June 21, 1924 — September 14, 2024

Green Bay

Louis J. Monfils, 100, Green Bay, passed away September 14, 2024. Born June 21, 1924, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Henry and Hortense (De Bauche) Monfils. After attending East High School, Louis faithfully served 3 years in the US army during WWII, including a 34-month stint of this time in the Aleutian Islands, before his honorable discharge as a Staff Seargent. On May 4, 1946, he married his high school sweetheart, Ethel Vanden Langenberg at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church where they were lifetime members. Louis worked for 40 years at Procter and Gamble (starting when they were known as Hoberg's).

Louis was a dedicated friend and family member. He was proud to have cared for his aging parents, allowing them to live out their lives at home. He also cared for many other elderly family members and friends, helping out where he was able and fixing anything that needed care. He enjoyed having coffee with "The Guys" at McDonalds and his friends and Riverside Place Condominiums. Louis and Ethel enjoyed going on and planning monthly casino bus trips, going to their trailer at Chaudoir's Dock, playing bridge, and dinners with family for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.

He was a lifetime member of the Bellevue VFW. As a member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, he served as an usher for many years. But he was most proud his family, grandkids and great-grandkids, continually showing them his unconditional love.

Louis is survived by his son, Marty (Gina) Monfils; son-in-law, Robert Massart; grandchildren, Lara (Tim) Feldhausen, Damien (Michelle) Massart, Tricia (Lee) Schroeder, Timothea (Dana) Vanden Heuvel, Griffin Monfils, Teagan Monfils, Macy Monfils; great-grandchildren, Josiah Feldhausen, Taylor, Jacob, Logan, and Maddi Massart, Charli and Reese Berge; brother-in-law, Harland Langenberg; two sisters-in-law, Gerry Dorner and Dolly Vanden Heuvel ; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law; daughter, Patricia Massart; great-granddaughter, Katherine Feldhausen; brothers, Ray and Gilbert Monfils; sisters, Irene Schwiner and Lorraine Nooyen;
