Mary J. Devereaux

Mary J. Devereaux, 75, Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, November 13, 2024, at a local hospital. Born February 9, 1949, in Wittenberg, she is the daughter of the late John and Anna Shalewski. She met Patrick J. Devereaux after his return from military service, and the couple later wed on March 6, 1971, at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Patrick preceded her in death on September 2, 2006. Mary enjoyed being a wife and mom as the couple started their family together. She later was employed at Prange Way for many years before starting a lengthy career as a floral designer at Schroeders Flowers, retiring in 2019 due to her failing health. Mary will be remembered for her enjoyment of the outdoors, fishing and also hunting in her earlier years, riding Brian's four-wheeler, working in her flower garden and landscaping. She also enjoyed going to the casino and participating in her Packer Pull Tabs, where she seldom lost her investment. Mary found great joy in cooking and baking and tending to her family. 

Mary is survived by one son, Brian Devereaux; her sister, Loretta Firkus of Rosholt; brother, John Shalewski of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Barb (Russ) Denneau; nieces and nephew, Kelly Percy, Al Boucher and Jamie Swienton; further survived by other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 35 years, Patrick; two sons, Michael John and James Patrick; sister, Shirley (Dick) Buss; brother, Roger (Rita) Shalewski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Gathering of family and friends at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 3pm until the time of the service. Memorial service, 7pm at the funeral home.
