Mary Catherine Schmeisser, our lovable sweetheart, went to sing with the angels she loved so much on June 30, 2016. Our beloved Mary treasured her family above all else. We know that she would have stayed if she could have mustered the strength to do so.
Born Dec. 31, 1949, in Marinette, Mary is the daughter of the late Robert and Monica (Kerski) Caylor. She moved to Green Bay and attended St. Joseph’s Academy. She was a proud alumna and went to luncheons with the “SJA Girls” almost monthly. Mary was delighted to be of the Catholic faith.
Mary married her sweetheart, Donald Schmeisser on April 18, 1970, in Green Bay. The couple lived in Green Bay for a short while before moving to Abrams where they continue to reside.
Mary’s life mission was to be the best wife, mother and grandmother she could possibly be, dedicating her life to her family. She not only loved her family and friends, but also opened her heart and her home to people in general. The most precious thing in Mary’s life was her family, and she loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren; she always looked for opportunities to get the family together and arranged monthly family dinners where she and Donald could be surrounded by the ones they loved the most.
One of Mary’s greatest joys outside of her family was being a Girl Scout leader and she is fondly remembered by many in the local community. Mary was a very forgiving and loving woman, overcoming any obstacle with a giggle, smile or a warm hug. Her children affectionately teased her, saying she was always “rainbows, unicorns and fluffy bunnies”. Mary was nostalgic and much to her family’s chagrin, she kept almost anything that had memories attached to it even if it was broken or worn out. Mary and Donald enjoyed traveling in retirement and have visited Alaska, many western states and most recently Washington, DC. Her refrigerator is full of travel magnets and other keepsakes from these adventures.
Mary is survived by her spouse, Donald; four children, Richard (Chasity) Schmeisser, Oconto Falls, Jennifer (Kevin) Corcoran, Green Bay, Robyn (Chad) Peterson, Green Bay, and James (Elizabeth) Schmeisser of DePere; eight grandchildren, Abigail, Riley, Alexander, Samuel, Patrick, Jack, Liam and Zachary; siblings, Michael Denis, Flintville, John Caylor, Madison, Denise “Dee” Guillaume, Green Bay and Joe Denis, Chicago IL.
