Mary Surprise, 82, Green Bay, died peacefully on May 29, 2016, with family by her side. Born on August 26, 1933, in Milwaukee, she is the daughter of the late Amelia Makivich. Mary is a 1951 graduate of Lincoln High School in Milwaukee while caring for her grandmother, who raised her. On January 30, 1959, she married Raymond Surprise in Waukegan, IL, and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1999. Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, BINGO, playing cards with friends, watching the Packers, and spending time with her beloved family. She will be fondly remembered as a caretaker who put the needs of others before her own. Mary always had a big smile, and was kind and courteous to everyone that she encountered.
Mary is survived by four children, David Surprise, Ray Surprise, both of Green Bay, John (Jodi) Surprise, Gresham, and Susan (Paul) Goetz, Suring; seven grandchildren, Steve Surprise, Nikki (Eric) Olson, Ray Surprise, Jr., Dylan Goetz, John Surprise, Jonah Surprise, and Joel Surprise; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; mother; grandmother, Katherine Makivich; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Funeral service 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
