Murrie Donovan

July 21, 1934 — June 20, 2023

Green Bay

Frances Mary "Murrie" Donovan, 88, Green Bay, passed away June 20, 2023.  She was born in Chicago, IL on July 21, 1934, to the late Anthony "Tony" and Frances (Weiler) Powers.  After Frances passed away when Murrie, the youngest of four children, was just four years old, Anthony married Bernadine "Babe" (Schwenke) Powers who lovingly raised the four children as her own in Berwyn, IL.

Murrie was a graduate of Nazareth High School in LaGrange Park, IL, and then went on to graduate from Quincy College where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  Many years later, Murrie received her Master's of Education from Lesley University.

She married Bud Donovan on September 26, 1959.  They spent their first twenty years of marriage in Monroe, WI where all five of their children were born. They then moved to Green Bay, WI where Murrie returned to her passion of teaching.  She taught at several schools in the Green Bay School District but spent the majority of her years teaching at Baird Elementary School.  Murrie loved gardening and spending time at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens.  She loved and was proud of her Irish heritage.  She loved her dogs and was a huge fan of large dogs, especially Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds. Murrie loved times spent with her friends in her dinner group, RAGGS, which she and Bud, along with several other friends, were founding members 30-plus years ago. Murrie was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for over forty years.

Murrie is survived by her children: Mike (partner, Kathy Castellanos) and his children Kelli, Jon (Mike), and Ryan and fiancee Kassandra; Kevin (Adele) and Kevin's children Bridget (Nick) and Kylie, and Adele's son, Ed; Nancy (Dale Krause) and her children Mick and Cassie; Margaret "Peggy" Duffy and her children Quinn, Maggie (Kyle), and Regan; Megan (Pumphrey) (Darren) Johnson and Connor (Alex) Lanz, the children of Bud and Murrie's late-daughter, Molly Donovan; great-grandchildren, Kiera, Summer, Jaxon, Julian, Roice, Musadiq, Muzzani, Bodhi, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Walter "Bud" Donovan; daughter, Molly Donovan; son-in-law, Allan Duffy, brothers Robert "Bob" Powers, Terry Powers, and Richard Powers, and sister, Antoinette "Toni" (Powers) Collins.
