Richard C. Russell, 93, Green Bay, passed away June 25, 2023, of natural causes.
Richard was fondly known as "Dick" to most, but asc"Grandpa" to family and close friends. Born January 15, 1930, in Green Bay, he is the son of the late Lawrence and Margaret Russell. Richard was a handyman of all trades and shared his knowledge with all his children. He enjoyed using both his mind and his hands. He loved family get togethers, parties, picnics, and traveling right up until a few years ago. The last ten years, Dick enjoyed writing memoirs of his life experiences and life-stories. He would sometimes print and bind these himself but had a few published for family to have in his memory. Richard served as a Marine in the Korean War. He had so many stories to tell. Richard was a family man and found time for both families to grow together. He will be sadly missed.
Richard met and married Laverne (Dequaine) and they shared 25 years together. They then divorced, at which time Richard met Mary (Barth) and they were together until Mary's passing in 2008. Richard traveled after for a year and then met Macel, his life partner who left us six years ago. Richard began to write the memoirs of his life and enjoyed his independence until a year ago, at which time he moved into The Court of Eden Vista.
Richard worked many years with Diana Manufacturing, and then started and ran his own small appliance shop, followed by many years at Milwaukee Cheese. After this, he and Mary ran their rental house business together. Although Richard and Mary resided in Green Bay, they vacationed in Mesa, AZ for many years.
Richard is survived by his children, son, Larry (Julie), son, Kim (Sue, caregiver), daughter, Brenda (Jonathan), daughter, Tina; step-daughter, Sandy (Jim), step-son, Tom, and step-daughter, Mary Jo; Kay (Kathleen); nieces, Cyndi (Mike), and Dyanne; many grandchildren (step), great-grandchildren (step) and great-great-grandchildren (step).
Richard is preceded in death by Mary (2nd wife); Laverne (1st wife); Macel (life partner); step-sons, David and Doug; and brothers-in-law, Jan and Paul.
Richard will be cremated and a small family graveside service will be held. Malcore (East) Funeral Home is serving the family. Visit www.malcorefuneralhome.com to share a condolence with the family.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Richard requested donations be made in his memory to a local VA https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/53167010/
As Richard (Dad) always said..."CATCH YA LATER KID!"
The family would like to thank the staff at The Court of Eden Vista and Unity Hospice for all the care and comfort you gave to Richard as he passed. And to "Chuck", the manager at Capital Court Apartments who took dad under his wing. Dad loved the "Outings" with the boys.
