Rita Mary Huven

September 17, 1925 — October 28, 2019

Rita Mary (Vandenhoven) Huven , 94, went to her eternal home on Monday, October 28, 2019.
The daughter of late Agnes and Matthias Vandenhoven was born on September 17, 1925 in Bay Settlement. She married Cyril Huven on Nov. 7, 1944. who preceded her in death on September 10, 1978.
Rita was proud of her employment as a telephone operator until her marriage and jobs at Hardee’s restaurant and Osco Drug after Cyril passed way. Rita enjoyed crocheting, reading and word search puzzles.
But her greatest pride was raising 13 children and spending time with family; Suzanne (Daniel) Koehne, Colette (Dave) Beckman, James (Dottie) Huven, Richard (Bob Dewar), Kathleen (Dennis) Graunke, Linda (Thomas) Noonan, Rebecca, Joseph (Connie) Huven, Robert Huven (Howard Leonard), Daniel Huven, Jean (John) Hazuka, Larry (Nancy) Huven, Cindy (Daniel) Flauger.
These children blessed her with 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; another source of pride and joy for “grandma sweetheart/great grandma.”
She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Charlier; brother-in-law Gerard Wilde, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to losing her husband, Rita experienced the grief of losing her son-in-law, Thomas Noonan; great-granddaughter, Hannah Flauger; and great-granddaughter, Leah Hope Schultz; her mother, Agnes (Champeau) and her father Matthias Vandenhoven; her brother Milton and sister-in-law Evie Vandenhoven; brother-in-law Leo Charlier and sister Bernadette and brother-in-law, Bernard Blodgett. She also experienced the passing of Cyril’s family, brother Gerald and sister-in-law Adeline Huven, brother John and sister-in-law Dorothy Huven, and sister Marion Wilde.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation for the genuine and good care provided by Care for All Ages during her two-year residence in assisted living; her doctor Scott Stillwell for intertwining medical care with spiritual care; and Unity Hospice who not only provided Rita with great care, but has been a source of comfort and support to her family during Rita’s final days.
Mom, you will be so missed! We will stand strong in our belief that you are now re-united with all the loved ones who have gone before you, especially dad. Until we meet again know we “love you and we like you!”
