Robert "Bob" Holschuh, Sr., 92, joyfully joined his Savior on Monday, December 30, 2024. Born February 6, 1932, in Green Bay to Edward and Mathilda (Vanden Berg) Holschuh, Bob was the third of six children.
A devout Catholic, Bob attended St. Matthew's and St. Phillip's grade schools before graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1950, where he served as ROTC captain. He was also a champion boxer at St. Philips. As a founding member of St. Bernard's parish in Green Bay, his faith remained central throughout his life as he faithfully attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily.
On May 23, 1956, Bob met the love of his life, Barbara Chambers, whom he married on January 21, 1958. Together they raised four children: Robert Jr. (Vicki Buss), Thomas (Vicky Wistenberg), Debra (Chris Houden), and John (Dawn Daniels). Bob and Barbara shared many adventures traveling the United States in their RV, and in recent years, he found his greatest joy simply holding hands with his beloved wife.
Bob's gifted mechanical mind and natural teaching ability made him an invaluable resource to family and friends. His expertise in restoring Ford Model T's, particularly his award-winning 1914 and 1923 models, was widely sought throughout the upper Midwest. He was a constant presence at various church picnics with his T's. He enjoyed splitting wood side by side with his beloved partner, Barb, and whichever child was there to join in. He was a hard and tireless worker, constantly finding things that needed to be done. As a member of the Teamsters Union, he knew every highway and back road in Wisconsin through his career with various trucking companies.
Bob took great pride in his eleven grandchildren: Samantha (Josh) Marcus, Shannon (Cole Palm) Holschuh, and Robert Holschuh IV (children of Rob and Vicki); Emilee (AJ) Blum and Spencer (Alyssa Kempke) Holschuh (children of Tom and Vicky); Christopher (Morgan) Houden, Anna (Grayson) Zuberer, and Henry Houden (children of Deb and Chris Houden); and Jackson, Alexander, and Bennett Holschuh (children of John and Dawn).
His eleven great-grandchildren brought out his softest side and tremendous joy in his final years: Marti Marcus; Grant, Wyatt, and Olivia Blum; Elizabeth, Campbell, Christopher III, and Hartwell Houden; Chambers and Scarlett Zuberer; and Noah Holschuh.
Bob is survived by his wife Barbara; his four children and their spouses; his brother Edward (Mary); sisters Carol Radosevich and Joan Hanstedt; and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers James (Rose) and Harold (Helen) Holschuh, and brother-in-law Frank Radosevich, sister-in-law Margaret Chambers, brothers-in-law Thomas Chambers Jr. and Anthony Chambers; sister-in-law Agnes Travinski (Roger); sister-in-law Dorothy Usiak (Leonard), and sister-in-law Elizabeth Van Straten (Don).
