Rosemarie K. Schmidt, 77, Green Bay, found peace Friday morning, December 31, 2021 at a local care facility while surrounded by her loving family. Born September 5, 1944, in Green Bay, the eldest of four children, of the late Robert and Kathryn (Van Handel) Rankin. Rosemarie was a graduate of West High, Class of 1962. She attended UW Extension-Green Bay where she met the love of her life, Dennis Schmidt. The couple married on March 27, 1965, at St. Patrick’s Church, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2015. Rosemarie spent most of her adult life employed within the customer service industry before ultimately retiring form Wisconsin Public Service. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her passion of reading, knitting and sewing, but mostly the devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Rosemarie is survived by her son, Robert Schmidt of Green Bay; daughter, Tracy VanErem and special friend Gregory Spears of De Pere; four grandchildren, Aaron and Anya Schmidt, Mitchell and Samantha VanErem; siblings, Marian (David) Guyot, Excelsior, MN, Ruth (John) Van Laanen, Green Bay, and William (Barbara) Rankin, Green Bay; Dennis’ siblings and their spouse, Dee Krouth, Green Bay, Illomay (Dennis) Laack, Plymouth, David Schmidt, Green Bay, Wendy Schmidt-Janosik, De Pere, Patricia (Edmond) Delwiche, De Pere, Stuart (Cathy) Schmidt, Green Bay; sister-in-law, Patti Schmidt, Green Bay; brother-in-law, Tom Kunesh, Stangelville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 50 years, Dennis; one sister-in-law, Judy Kunesh; one brother-in-law, Steven Schmidt; and her father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Armella (Reininger) Schmidt.
Visitation at St. Jude Church, 1420 Division Street, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 2pm until the time of the funeral. Funeral Mass 4pm Wednesday at the church. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Malcore (East) Funeral Home serving the family.
