Stephen R. Pawlak, 81, Sobieski, passed away suddenly, Monday afternoon, Dec. 20, 2021. Born Sept. 26, 1940, in Milwaukee, he is the son of the late Sigmund and Christine (Bodus) Pawlak. Steve married the former Carolyn Zaren on May 26, 1962, in Milwaukee. He was a life-long roofer and sider. Steve and the family moved to the Sobieski area to leave the "big city" and raise his family. He was able to enjoy his love for the outdoors including hunting and fishing. Steve loved spending time on his hobby farm, working in his shop and in his younger days, loved his time on the motorcycle.
Steve is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Carolyn; children and spouses, Lisa (Bart) Pierret, Ken (Dorene) Pawlak, Jeff (Christine) Pawlak, Brian (Jodi) Pawlak, and Mike (Meredith) Pawlak; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joanna (Pawlak) Beyer; siblings and their spouses, Jim (Barbara) Pawlak, Gene Pawlak, Ramona Bosch, Kathy (John) Fucile, and Mike (Mary) Pawlak; and Carolyn's two surviving sisters, Elaine (Fred) Deuter and Liana (Dan) Lassa; also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Greg Pawlak; sister, Rosemarie Pawlak; sister-in-law, Lucrecia Pawlak; and Carolyn's four brothers, Paul, Jerry, Fritz and Mic Zaren.
There will be a private family service at a future date. Malcore (West) Funeral Home is serving the family.
Steve's family extends a special thanks to the caring staff of the Emergency Room of St. Clare Hospital, Oconto Falls, and most especially to his dear friends and neighbors who truly were "family" over these many years, John and Gina Kolkowski.
